Description
With a population of around 50 people, Pitcairn Island in the southern Pacific Ocean is one of the world's most isolated communities. The island was first settled by mutineers from the HMS Bounty in 1790, and their descendants still make up the majority of the island's population. Despite its remote location, Pitcairn Island has a fascinating history and culture. Visitors can explore historic landmarks like the Bounty's anchor and the graves of the original mutineers, as well as enjoy the island's stunning natural beauty, including its pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters. Thanks to fasst-changing weather, strong currents and heavy swells around the only (tiny) harbour, I only managed to get ashore on the thirfd attempt.
